When you are planning to build your Saltbox home, talk to the experts at Early New England Homes. The iconic Saltbox style is a familiar sight throughout New England and remains a favorite for good reason.
The Saltbox was originally designed for cold climates. Saltbox homes have a long sloping rear roofline, which would have typically faced north, toward the prevailing New England winter weather, helping keep temperatures inside the home more comfortable during the colder months. Also true of most buildings in New England, the Saltbox rooflines were steep, allowing snow and ice to slide off more easily, thus preventing damage to the home.
Our Saltbox has a flexible floor plan. Early New England Homes has engineered a unique, open architecture, timbered ceiling system which allows flexibility in the placement of interior walls, so you can build a home with a floor plan that meets your individual needs. The open layout is perfect for large families or those who need extra office or craft space. The taller front wall affords more space on the second floor for larger bedrooms.
Saltbox homes are attractive. Saltbox homes are not only functional, but they are also aesthetically pleasing. As with other classic colonial-era homes, Saltbox homes never go out of style. This style of architecture has been popular for centuries. If you ever decide to sell your saltbox home in the future, then potential buyers are likely to be interested. And if this is your forever home, it will always put a smile on your face as you pull into the driveway.
